The online consultation on the development of a Global Core Set (GCS) of forest-related indicators, has been launched under the umbrella of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF) and in partnership with the Global Forum on Food Security and Nutrition (FSN).

Dates and participants

The consultation is open to the public from 2 May until 21 May 2017. Experts and stakeholders are encouraged to share views, on a voluntary basis.

Background and purpose

The consultation is intended to provide a platform to enrich the discussion on the development of a Global Core Set (GCS) of forest-related indicators, which has been initiated by a number of agencies to improve coordination and support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the UNFF Strategic Plan of the International Arrangement on Forests (IAF).

Following a number of informal meetings, an international expert workshop in Ottawa, and an organisation-led initiative (OLI) in Rome, a task force under the CPF has drawn up a proposal for a GSC that simplifies and harmonizes concepts and terminology.

Inputs from the consultation will be analysed at an Expert Consultation in June 2017, and used to further develop the GCS.

All the information is available on the FSN forum English, French and Spanish, together with the contributions already submitted.
